JASON
BOHON was
born in Independence, Missouri and spent his youth playing
make-believe in his front yard. He graduated from William Chrisman High
School and attended Central Missouri State University (now the
University of Central Missouri), where he majored in English and
Theatre. After receiving a BA and BFA, respectively, he moved to New
York City and worked with New Jersey Shakespeare Festival (now the
Shakespeare Theatre of New Jersey), American Globe Theatre, and
Shakespeare & Company. He also took trips back to Missouri
where he
worked with Missouri Repertory Theatre (now Kansas City Repertory
Theatre) and Central Missouri Repertory. While living in New York, he
was inspired by the work of physical theatre companies and later
attended the London International School of Performing Arts in
cooperation with Naropa University, where he received an MFA in
Physical Theatre, based on the pedagogy of Jacques Lecoq. Upon
graduating, he moved to Minneapolis, Minnesota and co-founded 3 Sticks
Theatre Company, of which he was also the Artistic Director for four
years. With 3 Sticks, he devised, directed, produced and performed in
over 10 productions. He had the opportunity to perform with Theatre de
la Jeune Lune, Theater Latte Da, Minnesota Orchestra, and Four Humors
Theatre, as well as teach at the University of Minnesota/ Guthrie
Theater BFA Actor Training Program and Upstream Arts, a non-profit
organization committed to enriching the lives of youth and adults with
disabilities. He was represented by Moore Creative Talent Agency,
where he worked in national and regional commercials (see Reels). He
recently moved back to New York City to continue pursuing work as a
director and an actor. Since arriving he has devised a new work with
Split
Knuckle Theatre Company, become a member of the Lincoln Center
Directors Lab, performed in ARS NOVA Ant Fest 2009, and directed PSYCH
by Evan Smith with Tongue-in-Cheek
Theater Productions. This spring he will direct AN ABSOLUTE TURKEY with
New Players Company and in the summer he will attend the National Stage
Combat Workshop with the Society of American Fight Directors.
