Born in Independence, Missouri, Jason studied Acting and English at the University of Central Missouri before receiving an M.F.A. in Actor-Created Physical Theatre from the London International School of Performing Arts/ Naropa University. He co-founded Three Sticks Theatre in Minneapolis, and, as Artistic Director, created, directed, produced and performed in numerous original works, including The Gypsy & the General, Borderlines, and Mythed. Jason currently serves as Producing Director of Split Knuckle Theatre, managing logistics around university residencies and regional tours. He also works in the rehearsal room as an actor-director-creator of Split Knuckle's new works, including Endurance, The Curious Case of Phineas Gage, and The Band of the Black Hand. He has worked regionally with Theatre de la Jeune Lune, Children's Theatre Company, Theater Latte Da, Shakespeare Theatre of New Jersey, Shakespeare & Company, Kansas City Rep, and Connecticut Rep. He is a member of the Actors Equity Association, an associate member of the Stage Directors and Choreographers Society, and a member of the American Society of Fight Directors. He has taught at numerous universities and colleges around the country, including Drake University, the University of Central Missouri, the University of Minnesota/Guthrie Theatre, and South Dakota State University. Currently, Jason is a Visiting Assistant Professor of Theatre at the University of Kansas and also teaches for the MFA Graduate Actor Training Program at the University of Missouri-Kansas City.
